:bulletblue::bulletblue: |:bulletred::bulletred::bulletred: |Leopardpelt|Shadow| ...I really care about him, I know this is probably breaking the rules, but I really don't know if I could just let him go.

:target:|:bulletblack:/:bulletwhite:|Ravenwing|River|She's irritating and privileged. She thinks she's better than me just because she had her warrior name, even though I'm older than her, which doesn't help. I don't need someone's pity to get my name, I can earn mine. She's just pathetic.

:bulletblack::bulletblack:|Fernpool|Wind|She called me over, I had every intention for trying to help but she just started insulting me?! I will not stand for this. You better watch your back fish breath because River clan won't let you insult one of their own.

Personality:

:bulletyellow:Independent: This is probably the trait that causes him the most trouble. Rapidpaw likes to do things on his own, his own way, which often leads to problems. His inability to see leaves him at a huge disadvantage concerning most things. He is resistant to learn things from people because he believes they are going easy on him because he can't be a 'real warrior'. He hates to be taken care of and insists on doing things himself, which is one reason he is so skinny, often times he has trouble hunting and he refuses to eat unless he has managed to catch something.

:bulletred:Aggressive: Rapidpaw is quick to anger. Lots of things bother him and he tends to over react. These outbursts tend to not be personal, but at the time they seem to be. He is just so frustrated with his general life and he takes his anger out on other cats who don't deserve it. He has lots of ticks and habits that tip you off before he explodes. His tail in known for obsessively twitching and he often flexes his claws or fidgets when he is under a lot of stress. Anyone is vulnerable to his outbursts, even family and high ranks.

:bulletyellow:Adventurous: This normally wouldn't be an issue for most toms, he likes to get out of camp, explore, find new things. except he is blind and prone to getting into things he can't work himself out of. It's not that he get's lost, he can back track just fine, but injuring himself is a real danger, as well as his clan mates tend to worry about him wondering off on his own. He isn't the best fighter, so he is vulnerable to many dangers, such as animals, or rouge cats.

:bulletyellow:Clumsy: This comes mostly from his blindness. He doesn't tend to just run into things, but with the recent rains, this has become a real problem since he often trips over things, like fallen branches or stones, which is why he often has tender spots or bruises on his forelegs. This only furthers his frustration with himself. This has fathered a lot of his self-esteem issues as of late.

:bulletgreen:Loyal: While it may not seem like it on most days, Rapidpaw is very loyal to River clan. They are his family, and they have protected him through the good and bad times. He never forgets good things done to him, and thus river clan as a whole has earned his loyalty. Earned, being the operating word here. He trusts easily, but he doesn't just hand it out, he needs to figuratively see that others are willing to do for him before he will do for them. His definition of loyalty has somewhat changed after meeting Leopardpelt. He believes he can be loyal to Leopardpelt and his clan, and by seeing Leopardpelt he hasn't betrayed them because he hasn't done anything to put river clan in danger. Not everyone sees it that way.

:bulletyellow:Distant: Rapidpaw tends to be a bit distant form others. He likes to believe he can do things on his own, always, no hesitation no worries, but he can't. His short falls bother him more then they probably should and he believes his failures are felt by everyone. He tends to blow his role in the clan way out of proportion and therefor his failures are worse then other cats short comings. He believes he is doing everyone a favor by staying out of there way.

:bulletgreen:Brave: Rapidpaw isn't afraid of anything, sometimes a good thing, he is willing to try anything (as long as it is on his own time), and sometimes a bad thing because he isn't worried about the consequences. He is a mentor's worst nightmare as he will go off without a second thought or even telling anyone about it. He has no thought to his well-being, whether that be for a good cause, like trying to save a friend, or for a bad one, like wondering about the forest on his own.

History:

Parents:  Rapidpaw's parents hadn't grown up together. Mallardwing had been made a warrior when Shadepaw was still an apprentice. He was a dutiful apprentice, strong, fit, intelligent, a very handsome young tom.Of course Mallardwing didn't spend anytime with him, she was a young warrior, still learning the ropes of everything in her new life with new responsibilities. She didn't have time to think about a mate or kittens at the time. Moons past and soon Shadepaw was now Shadestream. Mallardwing had heard the talk of him, he was handsome for sure, but still she wasn't ready for all that 'grown up' stuff. She liked to be silly with her friends and still got into trouble from time to time for being lazy or wondering off without telling anyone. She was a dreamer, head in the clouds. She hadn't taken much notice of the handsome tom until he found her sitting by a shallow pool on the edge of river clan territory watching the more colorful fish swimming about in the perfectly smooth water. The clouds from above reflected so well in the pool the fish looked like they were swimming in the clouds. Then she realized he was just as imaginative as she was, he just tended to filter it into his work.

They got along swimmingly after that, spending hours talking and taking walks. Her friends were surprised to here she had taken mate, especially the 'clan hottie' but of course they had moved on to their own lives by then to be jealous. They were a sweet couple, always wanting to spend time together, still having long talks about seemingly nothing. Many months later, Mallardwing become pregnant. The pregnancy was smooth, no problems, she was almost four years old and it was a good season for birthing. Everything went smoothly.

Kithood:
After a long morning, three little bundles sat at the she-cat's belly. One she-cat and two toms. The eldest was named Rapidkit. He was practically the spitting image of his father. He was the eldest, his other siblings being a tom named Leathkit for his little build, and a sister named Brookkit. Their early days were easy, the kittens got along, but by now, Mallardwing was beginning to notice her eldest son was a bit clumsier then most kits. He tripped over almost everything, and he bumped into things. She wanted to think he was just clumsy and leave it at that, but his father noticed he didn't look at them when they spoke, he just kind of looked in their general direction. He was concerned,  and called the medicine cat immediately. It was easy to diagnose, he was blind. And thus his version of hell began. His parents never let Rapidkit out of their sights. His mother babied him and kept him close while his siblings played and socialized with others. He tried whenever he could to get away from their choking grasps, but alas, the more he tried to get away the tighter the leash became.

As he become closer to becoming an apprentice, this brought a new problem to the new parents, what was their son to do? Of course, Rapidkit wanted to become a warrior. He was just as healthy as his siblings, if not mind numbingly bored. After speaking with the leader it was determined that Rapidpaw coudl not become a medicine cat due to one already being chosen, not that he would have agreed to that. As a young tom he knew exactly what he wanted. The leader felt he could attempt to become a warrior, and if he could not, he would join the elders. Rapidkit would be having none of that. His mother was more than concerned and insisted she hold him back from his ceremony. His father fought for him the whole way, but alas, he was made an apprentice finally, one full moon after his siblings.

Apprenticeship:
Rapidpaw was given to an older patient she-cat, a very sweet and patient, named Whitefur. Then, he was ready to learn, itching to know anything outside of the nursery even if he often had trouble with simple things. After two moons of training, Rapidpaw managed to catch his first fish. It was much more difficult for him since he could not see the fish, and hearing them was close to impossible when they weren't close to the surface. He was very proud of his achievement, his siblings were supportive, knowing how difficult it had been for him to manage something so easy for most. However, some of his other den mates were not so kind. He could often hear them making comments about how he would never amount to anything and eventually the leader would get tired of watching him fail and make him spend the rest of his days in the elders den. This made Rapidpaw slink away from many of his clan mates. He told himself he could still make it, but inside the doubt was building. Whitefur was his real support. She hyped him up for every training and he continued to excel very slowly. Soon enough, his brother and sister were being made warriors, and he was happy for them, but he was jelous that they had managed what he had not yet. He had been held back, and still having trouble with his training. He was a better tracker and fighter then he was hunter by far, but one day, while training with Whitefur, the older she-cat fell into the river. Rapidpaw rushed into save her, managing to get her on shore, but she had hit her back very badly and could no longer move her back legs.

It hurt both Whitefur and Rapidpaw for her to retire, but she could no longer help him. Rapidpaw was nervous to being assigned another mentor, he liked his old one and didn't want one of those cats that talked about him when they thought he wasn't looking. Unfortunately,That was exactly what happened. Rapidpaw was then assigned to a tom named Rumbleclaw, a very experienced, perfectionist, warrior who had trained many apprentices before him. Training for the the young tom took a sharp turn for the horrible and dreadful. Along with a decline in his abilities, Rapidpaw was more irritable and defiant as ever. Rumbleclaw drove him hard, and when he couldn't keep up, Rumbleclaw repremanded him and told him to practice more, and if he couldn't preform it agian satisfacterily, he was sentenced to days at a time of cleaning duty in camp. Which mean one thing, Rapidpaw was now lashing out at everyone. He was upset with himself for not being able to train at the same standards of his den mates, and he also particularly despised his new mentor.

One afternoon, Rumbleclaw left his apprentice alone to fish after becoming increasingly irritated with him. Rapidpaw was to frustrated to bother with the task and stormed off into the forest. That was when it all went down hill from there. He spent the greater part of the afternoon milling about, not really doing anything, and just when he was beginning to feel a bit better about his day, he scented something strange. A cat he hadn't known before, he was away from clan scent lines, he tended to avoid those, he didn't like being treated like a kitten and they tended to think he was helpless. He continued to follow the scent when he found the source, an older tom cat stalking about the outskirts of River clan territory. Still feeling angry, and wanting to prove himself, Rapidpaw confronted the tom, telling him to leave. He had not expected the stray to immediately want to fight. Unprepared, Rapidpaw was pinned quickly, it was clear to the tom he was blind and he didn't go easy on the apprentice, slashing at his face, showing no mercy. That was when Rumbleclaw showed up, he had followed Rapidpaw after finding him gone from the river. He was beyond angry, chasing off the tom without much trouble. They returned to camp where then the leader punished both cats, Rapidpaw for leaving on his own and being reckless, and Rumbleclaw for leaving him alone out of his anger. It was then the leader decided it was best to assign Rapidpaw a more patient mentor that wouldn't be so hard on him.

Rapidpaw is still overly cautious about meeting new cats, especially ones from outside the clans and tends to be wary around overly loud and snappish attitudes. He tends to meet fire with fire, so arguing to get somewhere with him inevitably ends in disaster. After the events with the rogue, Rapidpaw tends to be a bit more aggressive to strangers, not wanting to be caught unprepared again.

After Rumbleclaw's failure to teach him, there was a bit of a wait for Carpstar to choose another cat to mentor him. He was passed among the grown warriors like a helpless kitten, they never really 'taught' him, Rapidpaw felt it was more like babysitting then mentoring, and thus snuck off often just to be a bother. One of these afternoons he was meant to be fishing but wandered off after having an unsuccessful afternoon. He walked along the river and eventually found himself by four trees, before he had a chance to turn back a voice startled him. A young shadow clan warrior seemed to want to be friends. Rapidpaw was having none of that. He was shaking in his pelt and attempting to not look like a leaf shaking in the breeze. The only thing keeping him from running off was his River clan pride. they did little more than swap names before Rapidpaw managed to get away, his pride intact.

Not long after Rapidpaw was assigned Ravenwing as his mentor, the only other blind cat in River clan, unfortunately, she was younger than he was, having received her warrior name before him. The young tom had absolutely no respect for her, and her insistence on treating him like a new born meant their relationship was even more strained then one before and Rapidpaw was beginning to think he would never be allowed to be a warrior. These thoughts haunted him at night and kept him from sleeping. He started taking walks at night, sneaking out of camp so he wouldn't be followed. On one of these walks he bumped into Leopardpelt again. This time they managed to talk a little more, Rapidpaw wasn't so scared since the warrior hadn't seemed very aggressive before. They talked a bit, friend would be a bit of a strong word, acquaintance was too but it was close. They found each other again, several times in fact until they started setting meetings. Rapidpaw got into the habit of sneaking out and meeting him, at least once a week. One of there meetings, the two got close, a little too close for Rapidpaw and he didn't like how that made him feel so he bolted.

Rapidpaw became more aggravated and irritated then usual. His late walks turned into snappy marches. Bored and with no where to go he decided to take a quick patrol along the wind clan border when a voice called out to him, a she-cat sounding more lost than dangerous. He approached the noise carefully, keeping his ears up and ready. Only when he asked what the she-cat had called to him for, she snapped at him. Little did Rapidpaw know, he had run into the tom-hating she-cat fernpool. The two swapped insults before Rapidpaw started to storm off, feeling bad, the wind clan warrior trotted after him attempting to make light of the situation, but believe she was charging at him and feeling somewhat cornered, she shouted at her to stay away and darted off.

After that, Rapidpaw felt terrible about leaving Leopardpelt, loosing his only friend made him feel only that much more alone. He snuck out of camp in hopes of finding him, he was lucky, Leopardpelt had been walking to fourtrees everyday in the hopes of meeting him. Rapidpaw was quick to apologize and hoped they could salvage their friend ship. They started meeting again and rapidpaw focused on driving those feelings away again and just wanting to have a friend. Their meetings became more serious, Rapidpaw showed Leopardpelt how to fish and swim, and later Leopardpelt showed him a hiding spot he had had as a kitten. those feelings were returning but Rapidpaw didn't want to run away again.

Warrior:

Rapidstorm was named a warrior despite Ravenwing having taught him next to nothing. He had excelled on his own and truly adapted to his disability. Overall, Rapidstorm was happy with his name, it could have been so much worse.Despite the joyous occasion, Rapidpaw had wanted Leopardpelt there with him. HE wanted to make him proud some how, and he got the chance to share it with him a few days later when they met up again.

RolePlay Sample:

from :iconthe-rainfall-effect: Rapidpaw with Leopardpelt

The rain pattered on as it always had while Rapidpaw skirted the edge of camp, slipping out the entrance without much difficulty. His paws immediately sank into the soft mud with a quiet squishing sound that made his nose wrinkle. The young tom was no stranger to mud, but the weird grainy feeling between his toes made his claws curl. The rain poured with thunder roaring over head, for once the weather was actually helping Rapidpaw, the noise covered up his quick steps and the rain masked his scent.

Rapidpaw wasn't exactly 'sneaking out' per-say, he wasn't supposed to be doing anything, he could be lounging in his warm nest right now, but instead he was going to to meet Leopardpelt. The two had run into each other a few days before, but the meeting had been brief and they had agreed to meet up later. Having a friend was still rather new to the young tom. HE had been antsy all day, feeling he would be caught any moment, but they weren't really braking the rules right? Neither of them were trespassing, and no one was stealing prey, speaking of which. Rapidpaw made his way down to the river, skidding down through the soft earth and tossing bits of gravel as he descended to the gushing river bank. IT took him a few seconds to grasp his bearings and locate a bit of a groove in the stones. It took a few seconds for the cat to pull out a fish from under the rocks. He had stashed it away earlier in the day to hide it away from the mud and anything else that might want to have a free meal. Surprisingly, Rapidpaw had caught the thing himself, it had taken him most of the morning, but he had managed to catch two, one he took back to camp, and the other had a slightly different destination.

Rapidpaw gripped the fish gently in his teeth, trying not to crunch down on the delicate bones. HE climbed back up the bank, his claws sinking into the ground without purchase. His shoulders strained under the weight but he managed to pull himself up. Rapidpaw continued along the edge of the river bank, as he traveled further and further away from the River clan camp, the rain slowed to a heavy drizzle. He blinked water out of his eyes as he neared four trees. Heavy limbs loomed over the tom, guarding him from most of the rain. He sighed, his sightless eyes glancing over the large clearing as he listened for any signs of movement. It seemed he had made it there first. Rapidpaw placed the fish at his paws, deciding to stick near the river clan side of four trees so he might have an excuse if he were stumbled upon by a cat that wasn't Leopardpelt. The grey tabby stretched, digging his claws in the firm grass as he settled in to wait for the shadow clan warrior.
